Product Pricing Errors

Review enabled products whose retail margin misses the selected target, then save a corrected price.

Script Overview

This screen lists enabled catalog products and compares each selling price with the cost stored on the product. The suggested price marks that cost up so the profit is 30 percent of the selling price. Saving a row changes only that product's selling price. Products with no positive selling price stay on the All and Below lists and show no profit percent.

Operator Workflow

Choose stock
  • Leave In stock selected to review products with a quantity above zero.
  • Choose Out of stock to review products with a quantity of zero or less.
  • Changing stock refreshes the slider to that stock set.
Step 2
Set the margin slider
  • All margins lists every product in the stock set.
  • Below lists margins under the slider, plus products with no positive price.
  • Above lists only margins over the slider.
Step 3
Check retail prices
  • Press Check retail prices for 30% profit.
  • The new price column is the cost marked up to a 30 percent profit.
  • Use the page arrows or the page box when the list is longer than one page.
Step 4

  • Press Update on that same row. Only that product is saved.
  • A blank or negative price is refused.
Step 5

  • Press Exit to return to the inventory home screen.
  • Unsaved prices in the new price boxes are discarded.
Technical Reference & Safeguards
  • Data Read: oc_product status, model, quantity, price, and raw custom_field, joined once to oc_product_description with language_id = 1. Unit cost is custom field 3, parsed in PHP with GetCustomField() so a legacy custom field is not dropped.
  • Database Writes: Update writes oc_product.price for one existing product_id through UpdateTable(). The stored price is read back before the success message is shown.
  • Safeguards & Notifications: A zero or negative selling price returns a null margin and is not used as a divisor. Null margins are left off the slider track and are not compared with the threshold as numbers. Blank, negative, and non-numeric prices are refused. A missing product is not inserted. Matching products are listed 100 per page from the one parsed list.
