Create and update printable product manuals, attach a PDF, and link catalog categories.

Script Overview

This screen stores each instruction sheet, the product models that use it, and the catalog categories linked to it. A PDF upload replaces the file kept with the selected sheet. Adding a category can also copy that category's product models onto the sheet. Deleting a sheet removes the manual together with its model and category rows.

Operator Workflow
Step 1
Choose a Manual
  • Pick a sheet from the list to load its description, models, and PDF.
  • To create one, leave the list on the blank choice, type a description, and press Add.
Step 2
Edit the Sheet
  • Change the description and the comma-separated model list.
  • Press Update to save both. Update replaces the model list with the text in the box.
Step 3
Replace the PDF
  • Choose a PDF, then press Upload PDF.
  • The previous file is removed only after the new PDF is stored.
Step 4
Link a Category
  • Drill to a category, then press Add Category.
  • Add Products copies that category's models onto the sheet and skips models already listed.
Step 5
Remove a Link
  • Delete on a category row removes only that link.
  • Delete on the sheet removes the manual and its model and category rows.
Technical Reference & Safeguards
  • Data Read: pd_instruction_sheets, pd_instruction_products, pd_instruction_categories, oc_product, oc_product_to_category, oc_category, and oc_category_description with language_id = 1.
  • Database Writes: pd_instruction_sheets description, link, and size; pd_instruction_products.model; pd_instruction_categories.category_id.
  • Safeguards & Notifications: Uploads must be PDF files stored under the instruction sheets directory. Sheet update and delete each run in one transaction and roll back on failure. The banner above the form reports the result.

When creating a new manual, enter a description, leave the list on the blank choice, then press Add.
