Featured Products

Standalone inventory admin program with full navigation. Operators pick an OpenCart 3 category via cascading store/category selectors, then configure how often featured products rotate, which sales window to score against, how many products to show, and which selection strategy to use (fastest/slowest sellers, newest/oldest, no sales, highest price, highest margin, or largest stock). Settings persist in the custom pd_featured_products_values table. Downstream featuredProductsRotate.php (invoked on demand from this screen, or on a schedule by featuredProductsSpider.php) reads those rows, recalculates timestamps, and writes the live featured product set into pd_featured_products.

• Featured slots are intended for categories (and their subcategories) with more than 30 products. Three products are randomly chosen each rotation from the eligible featured pool. The #Products column is the number of featured candidates a category could display.
• Rotation time — how often featured products are recalculated. Large catalogs (for example Reloading Equipment or Dies) should rotate frequently (1 hour or 1 day). Small leaf categories should use weeks or months so the same few SKUs are not redrawn repeatedly.
• Sales period — the window used to score sales volume (week through all-time). This applies only to sales-based selection types, not inventory-level types.
• Select type — Fastest/slowest sellers, newest/oldest products, products with no sales, highest retail price, highest profit margin, or largest available stock. Only in-stock products with a price greater than 0 are eligible. When the display count is at least the subcategory count, at least one product is taken from each subcategory; otherwise products are chosen at random from subcategories.
• Add new options — saves a new category schedule but does not rotate storefront slots until the next spider run (or Update featured products).
• Update Options — saves edits to every listed category schedule without immediately rotating storefront slots.
• Update featured products — runs RotateFeaturedproducts() immediately for every scheduled category.
• Close — leaves the tool. Unsaved option edits and an un-run rotation wait until the next scheduled spider pass.
